to combat mental unease

It always hurts when you see any spike in distress calls to health helplines, but these numbers were alarming as the situation of uncertainty has worsen and caseload of affected people kept rising during pandemic. While on a move for VGSS NGO food distribution drive our volunteers come across many people struggling with anxiety and depression like disorders of mental health.

VGSS NGO took up the initiative to help these people in whatever way we can to address their mental health issues and came up with a dedicated contact point, but this doesn’t help much after a time as the number of distress calls received by our team of volunteers to help people struggling with such health tendencies were more than our expected lines. Initially due to unexpected lockdown, there were many messages from the families of children, senior citizen, community workers where we run our support program, migrant workers on streets and others who were not able to get food, basic items and medical supplies.

People from all sections of society were seeking help for depression and we witnessed a regular increase in calls from people struggling with anxiety and/or loneliness. Lack of food and daily use items, non payments of EMI, unavailability of basic medicines, not being able to pay children’s school fees due to loss of income or pay cuts were the major reasons for their uneasiness initially.

Callers were apprehensive of small things as they had lost their jobs or were on the verge of losing their jobs. Our volunteers experienced a marked increase in such calls for a few days post actor Sushant Singh Rajput untimely demise. Distress calls with even suicidal thoughts were due to various issues such as COVID related issues, financial problems, domestic issues, unemployment, uneasy relationships and even survival problems.

We would like to thank all other NGOs, medical experts and volunteers who were great help to people across India during this period. As we received calls in big numbers since our volunteers took this initiative, it was made easy by these selfless people and organisations that we were able to support people struggling with unusual mental state.

Dear Friends, kindly accept our positive vibes and sincere thanks as we at VGSS NGO sincerely believe that you are an asset we all must cherish.

We once again appeal to everyone to just reach out to the people close to you and always remember that mental well being is immensely important too. Be happy and kind to those around you and don’t forget to spread happiness. We hope each and every one of you is safe and healthy and remain so at all times and specially during pandemic. In these gloomy times look for the news that would get your hopes up and that is, to take care of yourself not only of your physical self but your mental self as well.

make someone smile

Dear Friends/Associates,

As we are aware that majority of people during pandemic were not able to arrange even for their basic needs due to lack of money many a times and now effect of the lock-down has worsen the situation further, a visible huge difference between rich and poor. Rich people getting rich and poor people becoming poor is something we often talk about, in a country where millions of people live below the poverty line and around 50 million are at the threshold level of the poverty in urban areas, it is very important to solve the problem of basic needs of unprivileged, instead of talking about it.

We at VGSS, support the ecosystem of helping deprived community through our initiatives to address their sufferings, imply family strengthening programme wherever possible. Humbled with the work of our volunteers, associates, contributors and the community we're involved with, our endeavor to support the ecosystem of helping deprived and unprivileged is scaling and we believe together we can.

Our team also like to take this opportunity to request you to come forward and help our distribution drive (in Delhi NCR we can even collect ration from your doorstep if you wanna help the underprivileged in these troubled time) through:

1. providing ration packs and cooked meal packets
2. providing masks, sanitizer bottles and sanitary pads
3. providing vehicle with fuel for our front line volunteers

This pandemic is much severe than one can ever expect so any effort seems to be quite inadequate. If you want to help this community please mail us your name, contact details at positivedomain@yahoo.com and we will revert you as earliest possible. Here, all we need is your help to serve the needy with dignity.

PositiveDomain is not accepting any monetary donations for our essential goods distribution drive, though your contributions of goods and services, as stated above will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you
Team PositiveDomain

people come first

There are various ways in which we can contribute towards society in turbulent time. It’s relatively easier to support a cause pertaining to the upliftment of underprivileged. Each of us can make a difference to the lives of the people who have lost their livelihood in various ways. You can initiate and organise providing meals or you can be part of essential goods and/or food distribution drive organised by VGSS NGO. It’s your choice, you can do it yourself by donating essential goods or join us in person at grassroots and even through your social connect.

Thankfully, here's this truth we recall today while our essential goods distribution drive is on.. a new creed might have cropped up that shamelessly resort to themselves, but humanity prevails as your positive attitude and intentions to do good for people in genuine need always comes first.

In a reported case Supreme Court once observed,

"... Truth constituted an integral part of the justice delivery system which was in vogue in the pre-independence era and people used to feel proud to tell truth in the courts irrespective of the consequences. However post-independence period has seen drastic changes in our value system.

In the last 40 years, a new creed of litigants has cropped up. Those who belong to this creed do not have any respect for truth. They shamelessly resort to falsehood and unethical means for achieving their goals.

(He) who attempts to pollute the stream of justice (by resorting to falsehood) or who touches the pure fountain of justice with tainted hands, is not entitled to any relief, interim or final."

Heavy damages can be inflicted on those who lie on affidavit in the court. Supreme Court says, " In last 40 Years, a new creed of litigants has cropped up, they shamelessly resort to falsehood "

Thank you,

mental health matters

Friends, while on the move to be with underprivileged and un-served combating corona virus pandemic, our volunteers were experiencing feelings of uneasiness amid the people and symptoms like lack of sleep, dramatic shifts in emotions, depressed feelings, change in appetite, unusual behavior, regular mood changes and nervousness and understandably this was quite visible.

To help individuals feeling lonely sensing social withdrawal and people in distress we have initiated a support group for such people suffering from these unwanted and vague feelings and make them feel important. It was made possible only with the help of some of our angel volunteers, majority of them students from various colleges and aspiring lawyers.

Initially, it was started by our on-field volunteers when they shared stories and data of such suffering people to other team members. Later we come up with an idea of a dedicated support system for them where they can share these feelings with someone who can listen them patiently and since it's the time of social distancing it was only possible virtual way. Here, we also like to recall that our initiative is not a part of medical support system by any means and it’s about standing with our fellow citizen when they are undergoing unprecedented stigma and help them with available resources.

each life is precious

The people you often see these days on your screens struggling for survival, daily needs and shelter are the people who have made our lives easy, we at PositiveDomain believe they are nothing less but our nation builders. Quite assumable you are reading this on a smartphone having your AC on with a decent internet connection but we thankfully are quite capable to access the basic necessities, albeit with some struggle.

Think about the people stranded on the streets, facing administration, lack of even drinking water leave about proper food and health measures to be adopted during lock down, waiting to reach home at one of a remote village probably 1500 km away from where they are now.

Highly dependent on daily wages these individuals and families in urban slums have lost their incomes, and we are experiencing their trauma from the stories we hear from our front line volunteers and other nonprofits associated with us. Join hands, we need your help to cover this last mile and support them through direct cash benefit of  Rs. 1,500 so that they can meet their immediate needs.

privacy in virtual world

Many of us spend many hours a day using the internet to do everyday things like working on office projects, watch videos, shopping, gaming, paying utility bills and making confidential video calls. A virtual private network (VPN) is one of the best ways to stay private and secure online and keep your personal data protected. VPN is a tool that allows you to access the internet securely wherever you are by creating a secure tunnel between your computer and your vpn provider, it protects you in two major ways:

Encrypting your traffic between you and your vpn provider so that no one on your local network can decipher or modify it and by concealing your IP address, protecting your identity and location. In the past, VPNs were mainly used by corporations to allow secure remote access to their internal services and proprietary data. Now, VPNs are available to anyone who wants to protect their connection to the internet, especially when it’s over porous networks like public wi-fi, and other networks. VPN will protect traffic whether through your browser, apps or other services. To use this service you’ll need to create an account with a vpn provider and install a software on your computer or phone, when enabled, vpn will handle traffic from all apps and software running on your device so you can browse and communicate freely over a secure private network connection.

your right to information

Since right of information act come into existence in our country we've seen all kinds of applications with people rightfully exercising their rights, we have got one of the most powerful activism tool at our disposal which allows your voice to reach, where it matters.

But, it is also true that majority of such applications doesn’t bring the desired results, we have some ideas to share on how you can draft your RTI application for better results:

Be clear and concise as it's important to state your main goal concisely, first paragraph of your application should make it absolutely clear what information you’re looking for. If you want people to take you seriously, then you need to put in the time to make sure your questions are serious in nature.

Make your point reasonably, but it is suggested to be in polite language. You must not write it as a complaint being rude or offensive. Advocating a cause through right to information make sense but RTI application is a tool limited to get answers to your queries, so be reasonable.

Now, you are ready to exercise your right to information and remember that you've got one of the most powerful tools for your voice to be heard.

circular model of growth

Over a period of time India has experienced considerable economic growth, if this trend continues the country could become one of the four biggest economies worldwide in time to come. Yet this positive indicator does not come without serious questions and the nation is still facing challenges related to rapid urbanisation, resource scarcity and a large part of the population living below the poverty threshold. In an interconnected world predicated largely on a linear 'take, make and dispose' economic model, the upcoming Indian powerhouse could embark on an industrialisation path comparable, albeit faster  to that of mature markets with the associated negative externalities it entails.

But this scenario is not inevitable, and with its young population and nascent manufacturing sector, the country is in a position to make systemic choices and bend the road ahead. Here, a digitally-enabled circular model of development provide some of the answers to the most pressing questions that India faces today. India is now the second largest market for smart phones, having surpassed the US. The country is embracing the digital revolution, one which guided by circular principles and enablers such as asset tracking and sharing, can yield significant benefits as highlighted by a study produced last spring by world economic forum and EMF,  moreover several building blocks of circularity are deeply ingrained in Indian habits as exemplified by the high rates of utilisation and repair of vehicles and the distributed recovery and recycling of materials post use. Though handled informally, these activities provide the only source of livelihoods to some of the poorest populations. Now, by turning these existing trends into core development strategies, India could generate significant economic savings, massively cut down on carbon emissions, not a mere detail for a country which has recently ratified the Paris climate agreement and deliver better prospects for its citizen.
Economic gains in a low carbon system
Building on the work carried out to map the circular economy opportunity for Europe, EMF supported by Climate Works, with UNCTAD as a knowledge partner has analysed the potential of circularity applied to three focus areas of the Indian economy, cities and construction, food and agriculture, and mobility and vehicle manufacturing.

recycle, reuse, regenerate

Circular economy is creating new opportunities for growth

a more circular economy will,

- reduce waste and drive greater resource productivity.
- deliver a more competitive international and regional economy.
- help reduce the environmental impacts of our production and consumption.
- position the country and/or region to better address emerging resource security/scarcity
  issues in the future.
- helps green economy, the economy that aims at reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities,
and that aims for sustainable development without degrading the environment. it is closely related
with ecological economics, but has a more politically applied focus.
Circular economy is a great support for sustainable growth
Circular economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.
In a world where demand and competition for finite and sometimes scarce resources will continue to increase, and pressure on resources is causing greater environmental degradation and fragility, we can benefit economically and environmentally from making better use of those resources. now major economies have developed a ‘take, make, consume and dispose’ pattern of growth, a linear model based on the assumption that resources are abundant, available, easy to source and cheap to dispose of. It is increasingly being understood that this threatens the competitiveness of Europe.

quashing after charge sheet filing

Quashing of FIR after charge sheet

The High Court under the exercise of its powers under section 482 CrPC can very well go for quashing even after the filing of the charge sheet by the prosecution. Either the parties can reach a compromise in the matter or the accused can appraise the court that there is no material against him even after the investigation of the matter.

The accused can also take the pleas of inherent improbability on the basis of the entire facts and the material collected against him in the charge sheet. The High Court can order for FIR quashing on the basis of the same as the provisions of section 482 CrPC are wide enough and empower the High Court very wide powers of quashing of FIR.

Quashing in economic offenses

Quashing of FIR is very often resorted to in economic offences when the financial dispute is settled and the parties come to terms. If very serious sections other than the economic offence are not involved, then the parties often enter into a deed of compromise and go for the quashing on the basis of compromise.

The High Court while exercising its powers under section 482 CrPC deed of compromise and go for the quashing on the basis of compromise. The High Court while exercising its powers under Section 482 CrPC can thus exercise its powers and order for quashing on the basis of settlement keeping in view the entire facts and circumstances.

On the basis of compromise

The FIR quashing by the High Court can be done at any stage of the case on the basis of compromise. Both parties, the complainant or the informant and the accused can enter into a compromise and on the basis of compromise and then file a joint petition under section 482 CrPC for FIR quashing.

The court can, however, scrutinize all the aspects of the matter and order for the quashing. In case the court is not satisfied with the facts and the compromise, the High Court can refuse the quashing on the basis of compromise. If the FIR is compoundable, the court may again refuse for FIR Quashing as there is an alternate remedy and the parties can approach the trial court.

journey of smiles continues

smiles in a slum

To help overcoming underprivileged children of slums from the hardship and suffering that has spanned three generations now was never easy, in recent times we have helped shifting families with only a few plastic sheets between them who reside on the side of a busy road inside a park area in ncr region. We were able to help them dream and think positive in life as these children have had little hope for the future, till now.

Step 1 serves to meet the urgent medical and nutritional needs of the children, provide safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, shelter and basic training in health and hygiene.

Step 2 Further to the brighter our study center we organize enrollment of children into the formal school system. Needless to say, vocational training for the parents is also held through this study center after hours to highlight the importance of education and life matters.

Step 3 is designed to bring future independence to the families by assisting the parents secure full time employment or start a small business via the micro-finance and mentoring program.

Step 4 involves working with local government to relocate the children and their families to safe, secure housing, creating the possibility for the children to live a quality of life they have ever dreamed of, a life with opportunities.

Happiness for our team of committed individuals is nothing but sharing smiles and wealth with the people who really need it. Volunteers along with the concept of lakshya aakriti and imbibed able values were the proud people behind implementing ideas into reality. The project was divided into four stages: health, education, livelihood and possibilities with the empowerment of women an important part of the strategy in a bid to find a long term, sustainable solution to the serious issues faced by this community, we call our this small journey, four steps for freedom, empowerment and equality.
